The following rabbit information is based on my experiences with hundreds of Holland lop show rabbits. It is relevant and useful for pet rabbits and other breeds as well. I will continue to expand and revise this section of my website with more pet rabbit information and rabbit care suggestions. Please visit often. Male Rabbits Make The Best Pet Rabbits
Male rabbits, especially Holland lop bucks, make the best pets because they are more attentive and affectionate. They make the best pets for kids because they are interactive, curious, and easy to handle. Spayed female rabbits (does) can also make great pets. Unaltered female rabbits might make good pet rabbits. It's just a bit more chancy proposition. More >>>>>
Rabbit Housing: About Pet Rabbit Cages and Pet Rabbit Hutches
In most situations, good rabbit care dictates that each pet rabbit will need a cage or hutch of its very own. Two unaltered bucks will generally begin to scrap sometime between three and six months of age. Two unaltered does will generally begin to show dominance or aggression toward each other as they reach sexual maturity, possibly as late as six months of age. An unaltered buck and doe could produce litters as early as twelve weeks of age, which is quite unhealthy for the doe. More >>>>>
Along with some sound pet rabbit care advice, a quality breeder will provide you with transitional feed when you purchase your rabbit. That feed should be used for the first day or two. After that, you should begin gradually mixing in bunny's new feed until he or she has changed completely over to the new feed over the period of about a week. More >>>>>
Getting to Know Your New Pet Rabbit
"Let your bunny lead," is the best advice anyone can give you about building a relationship with your rabbit. Holland lops are especially curious bunnies. And house rabbits enjoy all of the things to explore in a house. Sooner or later their curiosity will get the best of them, and they will come to check you out. More>>>>>>
Rabbits Can Be Pals With Cats, Dogs, and More
How your pet rabbit meets your other pets is an important step in whether they will tolerate each other, become friends, or get off on the wrong foot (or paw). First, make sure that your pet rabbit has fully acclimated to you and his or her new home before introducing bunny to your other furry friends. Meeting new folks is fun, but a little stressful, too. How To Housetrain A Pet Rabbit
House rabbits are a lot of fun. Luckily, pet rabbits are relatively easy to house train. They are just a bit more difficult than a cat and far easier than a dog to train. More >>>>>
Printer-Friendly Rabbit Care Tip Sheet
Your pet rabbit should have a
water bottle available with clean water at all times. The bottle should be
washed and refilled daily, even if it is not empty.
